The Garden History & Design Committee Presents Mystery Gardens Ever since the Garden Club of America was formed, members have been photographing gardens throughout the United States. The GCA Collection was donated to the Smithsonian Institution in 1992. Under the auspices of the Garden History and Design Committee, this collection has almost tripled in size as the committee continues to document private gardens of historical or design significance. However, in many cases, the initial gift contained many images, particularly from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, which lacked documentation or permissions from photographers and owners which are necessary for researcher access and display on the Smithsonian website: www.siris.si.edu . The Mystery Garden Quiz below is a way you can help us answer many questions. Once a garden is identified, a new one will appear. Its easy, its fun and a surprise awaits the winners! |

The Real Dirt The Horticulture Committee is proud to bring you the fifth edition of GCA-TRD The Real Dirt. Welcome to spring at last! There is a wonderful variety of articles to inspire and educate you. Please page through or download this issue at your leisure. Encourage your fellow club members to enjoy this magazine. You might want to download a copy to take to your next meeting for those members who have not crossed that bridge to the 21st century. Our committee is here to share our love and knowledge of horticulture with you all. If there is some aspect of horticulture, gardening, propagating or exhibiting on which you would like to see an article, please e-mail your Zone Horticulture Representative with ideas. Please be aware that you may print a single article if there is something you wish to have in a hard copy. It can be found on the GCA website in the Members Only section under Horticulture |
