GCA PROGRAM FOR PHOTOGRAPHY JUDGES

Approved judges in Flower Arrangement and Horticulture
Who is eligible?
Approved GCA Judges in either Flower Arrangement or Horticulture who has experience in photography (exhibiting, being published or lecturing) may apply to become a Prospective Judge in Photography.
Initial Procedure for approved Judges of Flower Arrangment or Horticulture
Fill out Qualification Form for Prospective Judge of Photography and attach a CV of photography experience. Include education (courses in photography); photography exhibiting in GCA, other flower shows or other venues; lecturing with own slides; published works. Include dates.
Send a copy of the form and CV to Pilot Photography Judging Program Area Chair and a copy of the form and CV to her Judging Zone Representative.
Pilot Photography Judging Program Area Chair will review with the Judging Zone Representative and send with her comments along to Judge Selection Committee.
Upon approval by the Judge Selection Committee, she would become a Prospective Judge in Photography
A Prospective judge in photography must
Continue to exhibit photography successfully in shows outside of the club as well as in Club Shows
Participate in a one day judging workshop in photography annually or a zone or area two day workshop in photography every other year
Continue the educational process by attending lectures and workshops in photography; attending juried exhibitions in photography
Judge photography in a minimum of six GCA and/or GCA-sanctioned shows with GCA approved judges from other clubs, with a judge evaluation form (J5) filled out by the other judges on the panel.
Write a photography schedule
Do all the remaining things a Prospective Judge must do.
Members of GCA clubs who are professional or experienced photographers
Who is eligible?
Professional photographers or those who have exhibited widely outside of the garden club, published, and who are not Approved GCA judges.
First Step
A Club President may nominate any active member of her club who is a professional photographer or experienced amateur who has exhibited widely outside of the garden club, published and who is not an Approved GCA judge. A professional photographer who does not wish to become a judge may be asked if she would be willing to teach at GCA judging workshops on photography.
Club President
The Club President will send Form J2 to the Zone Judging Representative.
Initial Procedure for the individual
Fill out Qualification Form for Prospective Judge of Photography and attach a CV of photography experience. Include professional work and/or exhibiting experience
Send a copy of the Qualification form and CV to the Pilot Photography Judging Program Area Chair and a copy of the Qualification form and CV to her Judging Zone Representative.
Pilot Photography Judging Program Area Chair will review with the Judging Zone Representative and send with her comments along to Judge Selection Committee.
Once their credentials are approved by the Judge Selection Committee, they would become Prospectives
Prospective (professional/experienced photographer) judge in photography must
Clerk in two shows to learn procedure.
